When is Your Last First Kiss?
OMGosh I have a story to tell
Please keep this quite or he kill me… shhhhhh
Last night while dropping my boys at their moms house (we’re
divorced), my 14 yr old had something to tell me. He jumped into
the front seat and wanted to share something personal. Turns out he
had his first kiss and he wanted to tell me all about it.
We sat there for over 30 minutes as he shared his feelings and asked
me questions. Feeling very honored as I was the first person he
wanted to tell, I shared my first kiss story.
He was so excited and I loved this bonding moment; I didn’t have
the heart to say “son this won’t be the last”
When we think back to our first kiss did we ever expect to end up
here, single and still looking? I know I didn’t and to this day I
still think about my first kiss.
So let’s fast forward to a few months ago. Shhhh another secret to
share, I met someone online and our first kiss felt like something
out of a movie.
We met about a year ago on facebook through mutual friends and we
shared a similar interest in the internet marketing world.
Basically the first 5 months we merely chatted as friends and their
was no romantic connection. Wasn’t until I saw her on a popular
online dating site and winked at her did she even know I had a huge
crush on her. We joked about it a bit, but since she live 3000
miles away we never pursued a romantic connection. Then it turns
out she was coming to Los Angeles for a speaking engagement and
here was our chance to meet.
The electricity in the air when we both saw each other could be cut
with a knife and what was only suppose to be a brief meeting at the
airport turned out to be several romantic dinners and conversations
lasting for hours.
To share something very personal, I really thought I had my last
first kiss. Alas not true. She lived on the east coast and there were
other reasons why we were not a good fit (private stuff).
So what did I learn from all this, I felt alive when we met and
shared this amazing kiss and just like how my son is feeling today
“on cloud 9” if I didn’t take this risk, this amazing feeling would
never have happened.
We never know when love will find us and often times it happens
when we least expect it. There is a choice we can make, we can sit
at home and hope our true love will come crashing through the door
or we can take action (the risk) and put ourselves out there for
them to find us, it’s just that simple.
BTW, just had an amazing date a few nights ago, who knows it might be my last.
Have you put yourself out there for your last first kiss?

Jonathon, what a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing and helping us all to remember sometimes its about the journey, and the kisses along the way to get us a little closer to the happily ever after!

I like that story because it shows what I wish more men could understand : could you have met right away, should you not have had to wait, etc, etc…, it would most probably not have felt so.
My last “first kiss” (although to me every kiss should be like the first :b ) happened under similar circumstances (with that difference that it led to a real relationship, despite the distance France-USA). Started like a friendship, wait for months, very similar circumstances.
I’ve kissed many men since, yet it was never great and I knew it wouldn’t be. They rush it too much and of course you can always slow them down but, then it is not the same any more… It doesn’t work this way. Too late, you’ve spoiled it, you’ve not let the connection develop enough, you’ve missed your chance for a great kiss and even, sometimes, for a great relationship.
Because a kiss, unlike the song says, should not be just a kiss or you know nothing about kissing.
Now I wouldn’t put myself out there, as you said, just to exchange amazing kisses leading nowhere… It is not an outdoor sport to me. 😀
