Learning To Move Forward In Life
How has life been treating you lately? For most of us, life has become uncertain. Troubles such as family woes, a precarious economy, a difficult diagnosis and scary headlines can leave us feeling like hiding under a rock. But hiding ourselves away and stagnating isn’t how life is meant to be lived.
How do we find the courage to move forward after a devastating hurt or loss?
In the not too distant past I’ve lost my job, had a marriage fail, and lost almost a million dollars in the 2008 crash. And worst of all, I lost hope… until I made a choice to start believing in myself and to keep moving forward, no matter what life continued to throw at me
“Keep moving forward” has become my mantra. I make a conscious decision to believe there are good days ahead. Each good day continues to build upon the next and now I believe in miracles everyday.
Take a step in the right direction every day, one small change at a time. Be gentle with yourself and your expectations. Even just a small step is better than remaining stagnant. In a year from now, you’ll be further along than you might have dared to dream. Remember that you don’t have to do it all at once…you just have to take it one day at a time.
Let go of the past. Forgive those who hurt you. Create new boundaries going forward. Change what you can.
Life will continue to happen to all of us, both the good and the bad. Believe me, I’ve had some horrible days over the past 6 years myself. There are no guarantees to be found. Yet we all have a choice… we can choose to believe that something good will happen or continue to believe something bad is just around the corner and allow the negativity to consume us.
And you know, when life does throw that curve ball at you, just take a step back and make the necessary time to grieve or reflect on the situation. Seek the higher purpose behind it and view it as an opportunity for growth and change.
Continually focusing on the negative robs life of its purpose and joy. So I’ll choose to keep looking for the miracles.
May your days be filled with miracles.
