Have you heard the term ‘stable ambiguity’ before? That’s when you’re in a relationship but you don’t know if it’s long term, monogamous, or just a ‘friends with benefits’ situation. Sometimes you’ll feel like it’s long term but then he might disappear for a week with no contact. The ambiguity lies in not knowing your status in the relationship.
Keep in mind, not EVERY relationship has to be long term; maybe you meet someone as a rebound relationship and a few weeks of fun is all you want. But a conversation conveying your desires is necessary so there’s no surprises or hurt feelings from your partner. There’s also nothing wrong with saying, “I don’t know what I want right now; how about we just have fun and see where it goes?”
