Why Calling All Men Narcissist Is Backing Firing… HERE’S WHY!
I recently read an article from a medical professional that argued the word “narcissist” is being used so frequently that the true meaning is starting to get blurred. I have also experienced this in my own coaching experience. Of course, there are toxic men walking this earth but not every one of them is a true narcissist.
“Extreme self-involvement to the degree that it makes a person ignore the needs of those around them” is an overly simplified definition but it’s easy for everyone to understand. Narcissistic personality disorder, however, requires a thorough medical evaluation for a correct diagnosis.
What I see happening is women giving up their power because they want to be taken care of – or they want to be a part of their own real-life Disney movie – and when things go south, they put all the blame on the man. They may want to avoid taking responsibility for their part of the relationship failing but in actuality they shouldn’t have given up their power in the first place. Just because they don’t like the final outcome doesn’t mean the man was a true narcissist.
Let’s explore the DEEPER reasons why women think so many men fall under the narcissist label and why this definition has gotten so skewed over the years.
