5 Steps To Get A Man To Open Up To You
How many of you grew up with brothers, cousins, or friends who were taught that boys don’t cry? For many generations, parents believed that boys (men) were the stronger sex and had to emit a powerful image. If boys of any age dared to show signs of being upset or crying, they were often called cry babies or sissies. Little girls were expected to cry because of the idea that they were “weak” or “emotional”. Even in today’s “enlightened” society, many of these same beliefs still exist.
So, is it any wonder why some men don’t like to talk, especially about their feelings and emotions? They grew up with this tough exterior and are now getting bombarded with requests from the women in their life to open up, talk to me, tell me how you feel. These men have pushed their feelings so deep inside that it’s difficult to understand what those feelings are and how to express them without causing angst in the relationship.
Let’s explore the DEEPER ways men can practice acknowledging their feelings and having meaningful conversations. We’ll also talk about how women can help create a safe space for their men to open up without judgment.
