We can answer a lot of questions about midlife men and their trouble with commitment if we look back in time. In their 20s, men were dating with a mission: To find a wife, settle down, and have the obligatory 2.5 kids.
Now skip ahead 20 years and the vast majority of men who are dating in their 40s or 50s have been divorced. Whether the divorce was amicable or not, men over 40 don’t have the same vision about dating as they did in their younger years. They often don’t want to repeat mistakes of the past, so they are more open to having a more casual relationship.
